Learning to Lead by Following Jesus

In Matthew 23:11, Jesus made a startling, seemingly enigmatic, statement: “He that is greatest among you, let him be your servant.” Unfortunately, a significant percentage of those who consider themselves to be among the elite leaders in the world are woefully deficient in any responsibility that they may have for serving humanity. Politicians, business executives, and, sad to say, ministers are too often driven by blind ambition for power and privilege. The thought of serving others rarely passes through their minds and, if it does, it is just another means of grabbing and consolidating power. Instead of being “personnel,” human beings become to them “human resources”!
