Light
"You are the light of the world, a city set on a hill."
Light is one of the most prominent metaphors that are applied to God, to Christ, to the Holy Spirit, and to the church. As the symbol of light, the menorah in the Tabernacle of Witness demonstrates the importance of God’s light for all believers, representing God as Israel’s light and salvation. Because Jesus declared himself to be the light of the world, he was the living menorah, the Word of God incarnate who raised the light of that Word to illuminate the lives of all who believe on him.
